When this snapshot was taken in June of 1972 George Delmar was second in points behind Dave Dion. Delmar was not able to get by Dion and the 1972 Norwood Arena Speedway Late Model Championship went to Dion. Delmar finished second in points. The track closed forever in the spring of 1973. Delmar was returning by small plan from a race at Devil's Bowl when his plane crashed. It was several months before he was found in the wreckage of his plane.
