Al Hurd -January 2005 - Al began his racing career around 1960 as a co-owner and co-driver of the #37 cut-down with Jim Maguire. They competed at Norwood, Westborough, West Peabody and Thompson. Al left the partnership after one year and spent the next few years driving for others on the same circuit.

In the mid sixties Al drove for Ray Stonkas in the #72 "Bay State Hustler" modified coupe, Ray's first venture into Nascar racing. The 72 car was one of the famed "Eastern Bandits." Al was married for over forty years to Geri (Reilly) and is survived by, in addition to his wife, a daughter, son and grandchild.
