Daredevil Division To Make Debut At Arena Because of the popularity of the Demolition Derby which drew 12,360 fans last week, Norwood Arena will initiate a Daredevil Division with the first race scheduled Saturday night, August 4. The new stock car division will join three other popular classes which have been running all seasonthe Modified, Sportsman and Hobby. The Daredevil Division will consist of semi-late model cars between the years of 1949 and 1953 with stock engines and factory-made steel tops. All safety features required in the other three divisions will be mandatory for the new division. These features include safety belts, roll-over bars and helmets for the drivers. The Daredevil drivers will compete in claiming races. Their cars may be purchased for the $25.00 claiming price by anybody at any time. The Demolition Derby last week was won by Wally Silva of Lincoln who was the winner as the last man standing. In the field of 100 that started. The eight-race card Saturday night embracing events in all divisions will get underway at 8 p.m. |
